Preble Township Board Meeting Highlights
The following topics were discussed at the regular meeting of the board of supervisors held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, beginning at 7:00PM. Official minutes of this board meeting have not yet been approved.
Township officers attending the meeting were Brad Kelly, Neil Halverson, Steve Vrieze, Chuck Olson and David Larson. Township residents Paul Olson, Alfred Storlie, Les Myhre and David Williams attended the meeting. Township road engineer Butch Obieglo attended the meeting.
Brad Kelly, township president, called the meeting to order and led the discussion.
Chuck Olson reported that the township checking account balance at Rushford State Bank was $78,490.80 as of May 31, 2015, after the payment of all May bills. Olson reported that $6,739.69 was expended by the township during May. The township received $4,322.05 in revenue during the month, $3,649.18 of which was paid by the State of Minnesota Emergency Management agency as the final disaster relief reimbursement for the repair of roads and culverts following the 2013 flooding.
The township board reviewed bills received by David Larson since the May meeting. The total amount of outstanding bills, excluding current wages, was $21,923.83. Of this amount, $20,553.04 is payable to Wiltgen Construction for rock and gravel recently used to re-grade township roads. All outstanding bills were approved for payment.
Butch Obieglo reported that Wiltgen Construction had delivered and spread gravel onto areas of 431st Avenue, 160th Street, 216th Street, South Fork Road, 455th Avenue and 198th Street. Additionally, scheduled tree trimming in various areas was completed during May and June.
Vitse Bridge Update
Brad Kelly reported that the Fillmore County Highway Department has released a bid for the construction work of replacing the Vitse bridge. The bid is scheduled to be awarded to the successful bidder on June 22nd.
Alfred Storlie requested the township's assistance in providing a 10 foot extension on an existing 30 inch diameter culvert that lies beneath Azalea Road near his property. The township board approved spending not more than $440 to purchase an extension to this culvert. Storlie will provide and pay for all work and materials required to install and support the culvert extension.
Preble Township received an annual population report from the state demographer for the year ending April 1, 2014. As of that date, the population of Preble Township is 202 residents with 85 households.
