Preble Township Board Meeting Highlights
The following topics were discussed at the regular meeting of the board of supervisors held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, beginning at 7:00PM. Official minutes of this board meeting have not yet been approved.
Township officers attending the meeting were Brad Kelly, Neil Halverson, Steve Vrieze, Chuck Olson and David Larson. Township residents Paul Olson and David Williams attended the meeting. Township road engineer Butch Obieglo attended the meeting.
Brad Kelly, township president, called the meeting to order and led the discussion.
Chuck Olson reported that the township checking account balance at Rushford State Bank was $154,243.26 as of May 31, 2014, after the payment of all May bills. Olson reported that $34,512.72 was expended by the township during May, but most of that expenditure is not reflected in the end of month bank balance because most of the checks had not cleared the bank.
The township board reviewed bills received by David Larson since the May meeting. The total amount of outstanding bills, excluding current wages, was $3,281.51. All outstanding bills were approved for payment.
Butch Obieglo reported that the new Caterpillar road grader has arrived, and is being used to grade township roads. All township roads are in good condition, but rock needs to be applied onto several identified roads.
Brad Kelly reported that the Fillmore County road engineer is working with Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDot) bridge designers to develop a 3-culvert, low water bridge crossing to replace the existing deteriorating bridge. Township officers will continue to consult with Ronald Gregg to determine if a bridge replacement can be developed in the near future.
Preble Township received an annual population report from the state demographer for the year ending April 1, 2013. As of that date, the population of Preble Township is 201 residents with 84 households.
